STFU Boris

I've largely steered clear of commenting on the war in Ukraine. Since I started writing on this blog again, it's been mainly light hearted stuff, some morons in papers stories, a couple of car blogs and a few digs at Ryanair

I've just read this though and it's annoyed me enough to finally break my silence:
Ukrainian troops will beat their Russian counterparts and it will "be free" from occupation, Boris Johnson has told the country's parliament - adding that it is a fight of "good versus evil".
Maybe all that's true. Maybe he has it spot on. My opinion is unlikely to be a popular one, considering what I've read in other places, but it's that, right or wrong, Boris needs to shut the fuck up, stand down and stop poking a beast that may well respond in a manner that will have devastating consequences for us all

Condemn the invasion
Apply sanctions
Help refugees
Provide food and medical supplies
Stop
The UK prime minister, who has become the first world leader to address Ukrainian MPs since Russia invaded in late February, said Ukraine had proven military experts "completely wrong".
In a recorded address, he told the Verkhovna Rada that the "so-called irresistible force of Putin's war machine has broken on the immoveable object of Ukrainian patriotism".
"Ukraine will win, Ukraine will be free," he said, while Ukrainian soldiers have "fought with the energy and courage of lions".
"You have proved the old saying - it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog."
I know we've left the EU now, and that's a good thing, but we're still part of Europe and Johnsons grandstanding on the world stage is likely to affect all of Europe and more
They are "committing war crimes" and their "atrocities emerge wherever they are forced to retreat".
It is a conflict with "no moral ambiguities or no grey areas", the prime minister told politicians watching him from Kyiv.
It is about "freedom versus oppression", "right versus wrong", and "good versus evil".
There's talk of Putin declaring WW3 and it going nuclear. This is probably just MSM scaremongering, but it's also a real possibility, particularly when Boris is constantly waving his hand in front of Putins face while shouting, "Not touching, can't get mad!"
Turning to Vladimir Putin, the PM said the war had exposed the Russian leader's "historic folly" - the "gigantic error that only an autocrat can make".
"When a leader rules by fear, rigs elections, jails critics, gags the media, and listens just to sycophants - when there is no limit on his power - that is when he makes catastrophic mistakes," Mr Johnson said.
Johnson does not understand autocrats. The one thing we need in this situation is a get out for Putin. A way for him to walk away while still 'saving face'. Johnson is taking that away with rhetoric like this. If Putin does decide to cut his losses, he's still going to maintain a beef with Johnson, as he's been given no choice. I know this is schoolyard stuff, but that's how it works
A further £300m of UK military aid has been announced as Ukraine continues to fight back against the Russian invasion.
It includes a counter battery radar system, heavy-lift drones, GPS jamming equipment and thousands of night vision devices.
In the coming weeks the UK will send Brimstone anti-ship missiles, Stormer anti-aircraft systems and armoured vehicles to evacuate civilians, Mr Johnson vowed.
The UK will carry on supplying Ukraine, he said, until no one "dares" to attack it again.
It's like the kid shouting from across the street that he's going to knock you out, but never letting you get close enough to sort him. But Putin has the power to deal with Johnson from across the street without having to move. I wonder if Johnson will think this was all a good idea after a few nukes have been dropped on London?

I could get on board with supplying weapons if necessary, but this is the wrong way to go about it. The Americans armed the Afghans during the Russian occupation, but the CIA handled it on the QT. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Americans didn't blab the inventory of what they were supplying in the media for the world to see

At least have a little deniability.

Personally I think he's spouting off about how hard he is, because he knows he's not very popular at the moment and he wants to become the next Thatcher or even Churchill

Well he's not even close. He's a fat, mop headed, spineless bastard who can't can't control politics at home, so needs to puff his chest out on the world stage and see if he can find some friends there. Well his "Not touching, can't get mad" policies are going to get Russia very mad, and that could be something we all regret (if we live that long), no matter how much we dislike Putin or how wrong we think his invasion of Ukraine is

It's time for Johnson to shut his gob and start doing something about dog poo
