Virgin Atlantic’s sexism goes deeper than telling women what to wearThis is of course, The Guardian, where having a uniform policy at work is sexist, but only if it's women who are told what to wear
So I'm assuming that Virgin Atlantic's 'Sexism' that apparently 'goes deep', is really nothing of the sort
The airline has finally relaxed its makeup rules for female crew. But in paying women far less than men it shows its true coloursActually yes, women should not be paid more than men. That's just wrong
Female pilots should be paid the same as male pilots with the same experience
Female cabin crew should be paid the same as male cabin crew with the same experience
And the same with all the other jobs in an airline
Fortunately pay discrimination is also illegal, so easily remedied
If that is in fact, what they are doing...
We don't find out until we've read a massive waffle about sexist uniforms that seems to go on forever, but eventually:
[...] when it comes to setting salary levels. Virgin Atlantic has a significant gender pay gap, according to figures published last year. Its median hourly rate for women is 30% below that of menThat's it
Loads of boring arse dribble about tight skirts and lipstick, followed by a one liner that tells us everything we need to know about the imaginary gender pay gap at Virgin Atlantic
It's based on median average wages
Most airline pilots are men
As stated in the story, most cabin crew are women
As long as airline pilots get paid more than cabin crew, there will be a median average gender pay gap. But not a real actual pay gap
The day that airline pilots are paid the same as cabin crew is the day that I stop flying, as it will be just too risky
Imaginary pay gaps and manufactured sexism aside, there was one comedy gold line in that story that made me laugh out load
But Theresa May’s government, with its instinctive dislike of regulating just about anything, argued that existing legislation was “adequate” to prevent gender-based discrimination.Seriously? Just about everything we do is over burdened with regulation or in the pipeline for such. May's 'Conservative' Government has even banned the sale of cars for some time in the not too distant future
This shower of shit do nothing but regulate. It's getting tedious
*Update* I wrote this post on Friday and scheduled it for today. I've just seen the following video over at Tim Newmans Desert Oasis
