Frustration as pizza chain fails to deliver
Isn't that a headline that really draws you in? This story must be a good one, I feel the makings of a national scandal coming on.
When Redwood man Rick Baker's pregnant girlfriend told him she was craving pizza last week he took to the phone straight away- ordering two large pizzas from Pizza Hut Northwood.
It's like the opening salvo of a Mills and Boon. Loving boyfriend does the gentlemanly thing and rings a pizza for his hungry lass. Pregnant hungry lass, no less.
But that's when it all starts to go wrong.
However, the fast food giant rang back 20 minutes later and said the pizzas could not be delivered for a further hour-and-a-half because the store had no delivery drivers.
Oh noes! What do you do when faced with such an horrific situation? Tell them you no longer want the pizzas and will phone someone else?
Erm..
Yes actually.
``It was 4pm and they said the pizza couldn't come until 5.30pm because there was no-one to drop it off. We'd already waited for 20 minutes and my girlfriend was getting hungry. They asked if I still wanted the pizza. I told them that I didn't want it anymore.'''
Ok, so why is this in the newspaper if it was sorted out amicably? Of course. The outrage!
``It's pathetic; a joke. You don't expect that sort of thing from a big chain like Pizza Hut, who advertise on TV about how great their delivery is. Why couldn't they have told me they had no drivers when I rang up the first time? I was really quite annoyed and I had a hungry girlfriend who was also getting grumpy. We don't have a car at the moment, so I couldn't go pick it up myself. I should've just walked down -it would've taken me 20 minutes anyway,'' he said.
Sometimes shit happens. We just deal with it.
After the incident, Mr Baker rang Hell Pizza, who had pizzas to him within 30 minutes.
Erm..
Oh..
Local newspapers eh? Fighting the good fight!
