The census commeth

I wrote this post about the 2011 census back in October when I found the details of the questionnaire online.

It seems to be a popular subject, as this post has since become my second most hit on post ever, beaten only by the Ciggy Busters. Remember them? What fun we had.

It's started getting more hits and some new comments this past week because, I think, people are Googling 2011 census. Also, many bloggers have written posts about this intrusive piece of government data gathering.

The general theme seems to be, "how do we rebel?" "What do we do to shove this piece of nonsense up some collective butts"?

It was on my original post where I first saw the idea of putting your religion down as "Smoker".

I have it in mind to put my religion as "Smoker"

That idea seems to have gained a lot of momentum and I'm sure there will be many "smokers" filling in this years census forms.

Having thought long and hard about it though, I have decided not to go down this route. There are many options open to us, however I am just not going to fill this one in. It will be in the bin straight from the doormat.

Another method that was used during 2001, I believe, was to simply blame the post office for the forms going "missing". Yes, I sent it in. Prove otherwise...

Quite.

The fact is, I can't be bothered filling the whole thing in. I can't be bothered making up pages of misinformation, even if it does mean I can put smoker as my religion.

I just don't want to encourage the buggers.

I asked last week, if anyone knows how to put a poll in a blog post. That was for another post I have coming up, but for now, let's give it a little try:
