The evils of Islam

According to the Daily Mail, Islam has a new poster campaign:

Cue offence, shock, racism etc.

Labour MP and anti racist campaigner Jim Fitzpatrick branded the posters 'extremely offensive' and demanded they were immediately ripped down.
You know what? Get over it. Islam is a hideous religion. Why give these muppets publicity by reprinting their rubbish in a mainstream newspaper*.

You want to do something about it, then do your own poster.

"In Islam we are protected from all these evils. We have marriage, family, honor, dignity, security, rights for man, woman and child"

In reality you have forced marriages, honour killings, no rights for women whatsoever and you marry children.

If you hate this country so much then bugger off somewhere else. That doesn't seem likely at the moment, though, so if you want to put up your crappy posters, fine. I will ignore them. The only reaction you will get from me is ridicule. Hah! You are stupid, misguided people who give up your entire life to the belief in a sky pixie.

(*I may have done the same but they won't get much publicity out of my blog, just derision. By the way, I tried the website on the poster and it doesn't exist)

So. Christmas and sky pixies. That really is what Christmas is supposed to be all about, isn't it? Pagan festivals aside, Christmas is supposed to be about the birth of Christ. The son of God. The mini sky pixie.

How many people reading this blog right now believe in God? Not many I'll bet. Out of the country as a whole, believers are in a minority however, most people celebrate Christmas. I gave up Christmas when I was eighteen but Mrs Bucko loves it, so since we got married I've had to get involved again.

Christmas has a new meaning these days. It's all about commercialism on one hand and seeing how much you can drink on the other.

Take this advert for instance.

Cheapest iPad In The UK £399 - Perfect Christmas Present

Who spends four hundred quid on a Christmas present? That's two weeks wages on one gadget to give to someone else.

How much money gets spent on presents for the kids these days? I don't have any for which I'm eternally grateful, but I know people who spend many hundreds of pounds on Christmas presents for their children and it's expected of them.

If I want something for myself then I tend to buy it. If I can wait until Christmas to get it then I probably don't need it anyway.

And then there's the booze. Some people have two weeks off at Christmas and spend the whole time getting plastered off their faces. It was mad Friday this weekend. That is the only day of the year when it is socially acceptable for bar staff to punch customers in the face. People who rarely drink during the year come out on the last Friday before Christmas, get totally fucking bolloxed and imagine that they can fight anyone who bumps into them because the pub is crowded.

When I worked in pubs, mad Friday was the worst and best night of the year. There are so many obnoxious shits out on the piss, but it's always fun to find out how fast a pissed up admin clerk with a bad attitude hits the deck from a right hook.

I might have to "do" Christmas these days but I avoid all that crap. We will spend some time with the family, and spend some time having a relax before we go back to work. Ignore the rampant commercialism, it's not such a bad time of the year.

None of it's about religion anymore, yet we still all do it.
