Homeless people sleeping in Blackburn Morrisons car park
In one picture a tent is seen on the ramp of the car park - and in another a driver's dash cam picked up a man sleeping close to the first floor entrance to the store.I just don't see how they can keep getting everyone all riled up by repeatedly pointing out that there are only 13 rough sleepers in a borough of 147,000 people
At a recent council scrutiny committee meeting borough community safety manager Mark Aspin said at least 13 people regularly slept rough - the worst he had known. As I've stated, if that's the worst ever, there never really was a problem. All the initiatives to keep people off the street and in accommodation must be working. By the councils own admission, these 13 are people that have been offered help and have refused it
Cllr Slater said: "I am very concerned at the borough's high number of rough sleepers. It is very sad that people are forced to sleep on the street in the current weather but some decline help. More needs to be done. What can be done when they 'decline help'? If they 'decline help', they're clearly not 'forced to sleep on the street'.
The council should not be lamenting the fact that there are 13 people who've been offered help, still choosing to sleep rough and complaining about how bad it all is, they should be patting themselves on the back because there are 146,983 people in the borough who are not sleeping rough
There's a huge positive in this recurring story, that everyone involved is failing to acknowledge
And people are falling for this. Almost everyone in the comments has drunk the Kool Aid and is bleating for the Government to do something. Of course they've actually no idea what that something is that the Government should do, just "Tories are bad, M'kay"
The job centre?
