XXX web domain registration begins

The "red light" suffix is intended to make it easier to find or avoid sexually explicit material online.
ICM Registry, which is administering the launch, said it hoped to "promote a responsible approach to adult content".

And may I take this opportunity to say what an excellent idea. Lump all the porn sites into one government approved web domain. This will of course make it far easier for people to avoid stumbling across porn sites on the internet. It will also make it easier for people looking for porn to find safe sites with no viruses or malware and to be bagged and tagged by the government.

What?

Oh come on. I'm a card carrying tin foil hat wearer. You don't think I'm going to believe that this is all for the benign purpose of protecting the kiddies and the porn surfers do you?

First you tell us that in the name of the kiddies you want to block all porn and make people 'opt in' to view it, then you tell us that all porn sites are going to be moved on to the new dot triple x web domain.

As I have blogged before, there is an awful lot of porn on the internet. Blocking it all would be extremely difficult. I didn't see this one coming though. Give each site the same suffix and things become a lot easier. It will also make it easier to monitor people who watch porn by tracking who uses .xxx sites.

You can't argue with that can you. If you do then you must be a sick porn watching pervert who doesn't mind children being subject to the same filth that you watch.

And once this is in place - You didn't object to the porn sites, how can you object to the sites that promote alcohol, tobacco and unhealthy foods (or even the libertarian bloggers).

This idea, in principle, may actually work as intended. Even so, it's the government once again sticking their noses in where they don't belong. The internet isn't there to be bagged and tagged by TPTB, it's supposed to be open and free.

Of course none of this matters to me because I don't watch porn on the internet. *Ahem*
