A home without a cat is just a house

Sad times at Moose Meadows. The last of our cats passed away this afternoon

She started having breathing difficulties in the week, so we took her to the vets. Fluid on the lungs. The vet told us that for a small fortune and a stay in the cat hospital, they could find out what was the cause, but in all likelyhood, they wouldn't be able to treat it.

If they'd quoted us a grand and said they could definately get her back on the road again, we'd have done it, but we didn't want her last couple of days to be the stress of cat hospital and tests, so we made the tearful decision to let her go

I don't envy the job those vets do. It must be quite rewarding being able to help animals, but also very stressful to be doing this all the time. For that I thank them

I don't expect life to be fair. That shit is for children and socialists, but when it comes to little critters like that who don't understand, I sometimes think life could be a bit fairer. It's not the wild and natural selection and stuff, cats and dogs are members of the family. You should nevr outlive a child, but you'll always outlive a pet

We'll miss the bits of cat litter being dragged through the house, and the pukes on the carpet, along of course, with the 16 years of unconditional love from a very happy cat

The house is going to feel quite empty now

Appolgies for any spelling mistakes and waffling, but I've been raising a few scoops for Scrappy

And for all you out there who have lost a beloved little pest

It sucks big time. Bottoms up

When we lost the late, great, Pippin three of us sat and cried together. I shed more tears over him than I ever have for a human . . .
Non-pet people just don't get it.

It is a sad time but I would point out 16 years is a long life for a cat. I lost mine at 15 and she was still going strong but was accidentally poisoned by my neighbour when she drank his antifreeze. Nothing we could do.

One of our two cats is quite old. She was an adult cat when she came to us in 2013. The other cat is younger and much more active and we hope has quite a few years left.
