A Tall Order

Apparently it's World Basketball Day

I'm not sure why. I haven't found 'world days' for any other sport, there's no World Snooker Day, or even a World Womens Beach Volleyball Day, so why basketball?

Erm? It's a sport where tall people throw a ball through a hoop. I'm not sure those lofty ideals really apply. I wonder what the players think?
