Hug a Robot

Can anyone remember the point where all politicians switched to a constant stream of verbal diarrhea, and stopped proposing anything that might actually work or may one day get done?
I'm having a hard time remembering a politician proposing an action that was:
  1. Worth a shot, and
  2. Actually tried
The only things they seem to actually do these days, are the polar opposite of what might actually work in the given situation
Most of the things they propose are total junk and don't even get tried, or are U-turned

For example, the NHS needs serious reform, so the only things todays politicians propose are clown world suggestions that would only make the problem worse
Sunak tells NHS to embrace robot workers as it prepares to sack staff

Robot workers? There was a time I would have been convinced the British Prime Minister would not have said something so ludirous and must have been mis-quoted by the media. Now I'm sure the media probably watered the stupid down a bit
Rishi Sunak has urged the NHS to embrace the use of robots as the health service prepares to cut its workforce by half in a drastic attempt to cut costs.
But actually, the media are also that stupid
Ministers are drawing up plans to slash NHS England’s 6,500 bureaucrats by as much as half and to remove a swathe of targets to allow hospitals more control over how money is spent.
They don't want to slash staff by half, they want to slash bureaucrats by half. And replace them with automation
The Prime Minister said supporting innovation was a "defining focus" of his premiership, as he described more automation and investment in robotics as "low hanging fruit" that will drive up pay and economic growth "quickly".

"If we can get that right with more robotics and automation, then we can drive up productivity. It reduces some of the pressure on labour, and creates good jobs for people," he told an audience of business leaders in Birmingham
You know what I think?
  • There's definately more than 6500 bureaucrats
  • They haven't included all the diversity and equality officers
  • The whole lot could be cut by 90%, not half
  • They don't need replacing by anything, so tech not required
  • The NHS doesn't want to get rid of them
  • The Government will need to fight the NHS
  • The Government will loose, as the don't have the political will to take on the Civil Service
  • This is another idea that will never happen
  • The Government will give the NHS more taxpayers money to spend on diversity officers
It's inevitable
