Flying blind

It's holiday time again. We go to Corfu every year because reasons, but we also try to get a week somewhere we've never been. This is that week, and last night, we landed in Bulgaria
Everyone seems to go to Sunny Beach, but when we Googled it, it seemed busy and overly touristy, so we chose a quieter looking place called Pomorie

Going to new countries is a lot like buying cars on Ebay. You get a lot of bargains, but sometimes you get a lemon. This may be the lemon

It's too early to tell yet, but from what we saw in the dark last night, we seem to be in the place where the locals go on holiday. There seems to be no English people, eveything down to the menus is written in Bulgarian, the locals don't speak much English and of course, we don't speak or read a word of Bulgarian
Communication is going to be by hand waving, pointing and the universal, 'Two beers please'

I'm also pretty sure a full English breakfast is not on the cards round here. We did get the local version of a meatball sub before bed last night though. We both like soured cream, so we think we're going to really enjoy the local food

The architecture is something else too. All the buildings are totally random, just like Greece, but heavily condensed and very tall. I was expecting something more ex-communist. To be honest, I don't know much about Bulgarian history, so I'll do a bit of Googling later, maybe

We're going to spend today exploring the local area and foraging for provisions. The coffee cups in the apartment are espresso sized and we're proper brew drinkers, so that needs to be rectified

After writing the above, Ihad to take a break to charge the tablet, so we went out to get the stuff we need

Two pounds sixty for a packet of fags!

Bonus

If anything interesting happens, I may blog again
