- Debbie Abrahams (Labour)
- Derek Adams (British National Party)
- Kashif Ali (Conservative)
- Peter Allen (Green Party)
- David Bishop (Bus-Pass Elvis Party)
- The Flying Brick (Monster Raving Loony Party)
- Loz Kaye (Pirate Party of the United Kingdom)
- Stephen Morris (English Democrats)
- Paul Nuttall MEP (UK Independence Party)
- Elwyn Watkins (Liberal Democrats)
Does anyone have money on The Flying Brick? Sounds more like a boozer than a bloke ;-)
Here's the odds if you're interested:
Labour 1/16
Liberal Democrats 7/1
Conservatives 66/1
UKIP 100/1
BNP 100/1
Green 100/1
English Democrats 200/1
Pirate Party 500/1
Monster Raving Loony Party 1000/1
Bus-Pass Elvis Party 1000/1
What I don't understand is, if the Bus-Pass Elvis party can field a candidate, where is the Libertarian party?
I would be disappointed if I lived in Oldham right now.
*Update*
I was going to publish the results but they are here.
82% of people did not vote for Labour. Hence Labour victory. That's democracy in action for you.
And the reasons for no Libertarian candidate can be found here in answer to a question posed by The Angry Exile.
Long live democracy! Long live the State!

I was once the election agent for the loony candidate who stood against John Redwood. It was hard to tell which one was the Loony...
Dioclese - That's amazing. That's one hell of a claim to fame.
Good question, though there could be good reasons. Is liberty in such shit state that a libertarian candidate can't be found among the drones of Oldham? Or maybe the legal fun and games caused by Vince Cable have been enough to keep an underfunded fledgling party too busy to do much else than get its leader recognised. Or maybe they're just short of cash. I just asked the question over at Guthrum's (this post) so hopefully we'll soon find out. I'll give 'em the benefit of doubt in the meantime.
The Beeb did a street-interview yesterday, asking people who they'd vote for. The results were predictably depressing - as much for the given reasons as for the result. There was no introspection, no evidence of deliberation. They really were sheep.
I would like to see Libertarian candidates all over the place making a big name for themselves.
If I was a billionaire I might be able to help with that. Ahhh... one day *dreams*
Results are in. 82% of the people didn't vote for Labour. Labour wins. Score. Not.
