Tis the Season 2

Another one just cropped up on my news feed
Mum forced to use neighbour's electricity for 11 days after power cut left kids freezing
This one is a bit wierd, as it seems she did top up the meter and Scottish Power are accepting responsibility for the cut off, unlike the others below, where they simply hadn't paid their bills and still went squealing to the newspapers

The story still raised my hackles though, as it's dripping with entitlement and a lack of personal responsibility

Council flat, young woman, two young children, no father(s) on scene, no job, on benefits

Reading the story, she's clearly made the decision twice, to get pregnant and have a baby, while she lives in a council flat on benefits. Now her electricity is on a pre-paid meter because she can't be trusted to pay the bills, and she squeals to the papers when the leccy goes off, as she clearly has no funds or plan in place to deal with adversity when it arises

These are the people who will own nothing. These are the people whose children will not stand a chance in life, and end up as feckless as their parents. But they're also the people who will make sure the rest of us find it very difficult to own anything, as a huge portion of our wage is taken to pay their way

These are the people who disgust me

The children are 19 months and 5 months, so the second was conceived less than six months after the birth of the first. The Specials ‘Too Much Too Young’ - “...to be married with a kid when you should be having fun” - looks laughably naive these days where young women have the kids and the fun but don’t bother with the marriage; of course, the Specials predated Harriet Harman’s influential pamphlet on the ‘stultifying traditional concept of ‘the family’’.

As you say, it’s hardly an auspicious start in life for those two children.

Yes, and what bugs me is that they see nothing wrong with it. Keep having kids and the taxpayer will stunp up.
I'll have to say, I do hope the life she has chosen is no 'Fun'
