Happy New Year (possibly)

About this time last year we were saying that 2021 had to be better than the shit we put up with in 2020. Now we're saying the same thing about 2022, while Boris is still considering further restrictions in the new year to 'protect the NHS'

I've never been a fan of the NHS, but after the past two years it has demonstrated beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is unfit for purpose. If it's not ready to handle Covid now, it never will be. Although that was also true twelve months ago

The trouble is, if you want a better service you've got to go private while still be forced to pay the Government for an overpriced, substandard service. There's no opt out when it comes to the envy of the world, it's so good, you have to be forced to buy into it

You can't vote for change either. All the 650 in Parliament seem to be cut from the same cloth. You vote for politicians and you get politicians. Your life and the country just continue to go down the shitter

Even the smaller parties aren't worth it. They'll never individually get the vote share to form a Government and they seem unable to band together into something worthwhile

I've been looking forward to retiring abroad for some time now, but where can you go to escape this shit? We want to retire to Corfu, but the Greek Government has recently brought in a rule that you have to wear two masks (two masks!) in shops and they have banned music in bars on New Years Eve

The madness is now global and there seems to be nothing we can do about it

We can't even change the Government by force. Some people talk of revolutions and piano wire, but it's never going to happen, at least not in our lifetimes. The general population just seem to do exactly what they are told, which is evident by millions of healthy people taking Covid tests every day and the number of people still wearing masks in shops

Even after Boris said the roadmap to freedom was irreversible, the people are not willing to hold him to that as they have simply been cowed into subservience by the powers that be

So who knows where next year will take us? Hopefully my space rocket will be finished by then and I can leave Earth to it's fate and seek out new life and new civilisations. Trouble is, after the Covid maniacs bought all the bog rolls, I've had to put the project on hold due to lack of toilet roll inners. I've got a few Fairy Liquid bottles to be going on with though

You never know, things might all be back to normal after January and the world might choose to embrace Libertarianism. We can but hope

I'll be off to the pub(s) tonight with Mrs Bucko. Not sure what to expect, if it's going to be quiet or very busy. My money is on quiet and we will do the rounds in town, play a few games of pool and then slope off home to open a bottle of Jack

Maybe I'll even take her out for a meal first. But only if she's finished plastering the kitchen by the time I get home from work

Whatever happens though, I hope you all have a good night tonight and the best new year possible

Here's some non new year related music to tap your foot to
