Who is Trudy Harrison?
Conservative ✅
First Conservative in her constituency since 1931 ✅
First female MP in her constituency ✅
So I would imagine she's a fairly decent person with her head screwed on?
Ms Harrison, MP for Copeland, said the country needs to abandon "20th century thinking centred around private vehicle ownership"
The Conservatives have definitely become the 'Own nothing and like it' party. The trouble is, we can't even vote them out. The whole establishment are the same and they're all working against the people
She stressed the importance for British roads to introduce "greater flexibility, with personal choice and low carbon shared transport" such as bike share schemes, car clubs, e-scooters, and digital demand responsive transport services like Uber.
As with any dictator in waiting, when she says we should introduce greater personal choice, she means we should remove it
In this instance she means you can have more personal choice as long as your choice is not to own and operate your own car. As long as your choice is to use one of a range of other transport measures, that so far you have chosen not to use, because they are totally impractical for what you need to do
Richard Dilks, chief executive of shared transport campaigners CoMoUK, welcomed Harrison's comments, which he said demonstrates that shared transport is on the Government's agenda
Of course it's on the Governments agenda, along with all the other green communism crap. I'm willing to bet (I don't know, correct me if I'm wrong), that this chap certainly owns his own car
He added: "By encouraging people to use public and active travel modes more, governments can help reduce the demand for privately owned cars and achieve the country's net zero strategy."
Or, we could scrap the Governments net zero strategy as it's total and utter bunkum. Humans are not altering the climate and taking our cars away from us is not going to do anything to change the course of natural climate evolution
But in a poll of 3,276 Express.co.uk readers, held from December 21 to 23, a staggering 91 percent of voters said private car ownership should not be banned in cities.
One reader, Mrs Mitchell, said: "How is this person a transport minister with the insane notion that we should ban owning private motors?!"
Indeed. But we're way through the looking glass now and MPs are so far removed from ordinary people that bollocks like this actually sounds like a good thing to them. Of course it won't actually apply to them, they need their five Range Rovers as they're doing the Lords work, or something
But other voters questioned why inner-city dwellers would want to own a car at all.
This is the kind of response that really grips my shit. "I don't know you from Adam, but why would you want to do this thing that I personally disapprove of?"
An Express voter commented: "I'm sure that, if I lived in central London, I would not have a car. Why would I? Why would anyone?"
Why don't you try fucking asking the people that do live in central London? They choose to own cars with regular monotony. Surely they know more about inner city car ownership than your ill-informed opinion from nowhere near London
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has put tackling air pollution at the top of his agenda, as pollution contributes to 4,000 premature deaths per year in the city, and up to 36,000 deaths in the UK.
He told BBC London: "This is a matter of life and death. We can't afford to wait any longer"
Deaths caused by air polution is simply a fag packet calculation based on what if's and might haves and number of years of life lost to the possible. Maybe Khan should put stabbings and murders on the top of his agenda. You know, the things that actuall do kill people quite nastily
Portsmouth is set to launch its Clean Air Zone on November 29, with high-polluting private hire vehicles and taxis being charged £10.
Birmingham council announced what it calls a "transformative" transport plan that will see the busy city becoming a super-sized low-traffic neighbourhood, as well as introducing a new fleet of zero-emission buses and more cycle lanes.
As vehicle technology improves on a daily basis, this is just a money making scam
