There goes my last little bit of respect for British justice

Police have charged a man with assault after an alleged fare-dodger was removed from a train by a passenger.

British Transport Police said a 35-year-old man from Stirling had been charged with assault.
The man is understood to be Alan Pollock.

I hope his case gets batted right out of court with the police left looking like the utter morons they are.

I'm too annoyed to turn this post into a rant. I'm off to bed instead. I hate this country!

I was in a shop and heard it on a radio - I'm normally the quiet polite type but just couldn't stop the burst of swearing that occurred. Thankfully the shop-owner was swearing blind himself at the same time, and for the same reason.

So Mr Pollock gets charged because a drunken student is removed (legally at the request of the authority present, himself acting legally in doing so) and because the little shit is too shit-faced to stand up he falls and gets a small scratch. So now the 'big man' is being charged with assault.

Whilst the, supposedly same, justice system cautions nine scum who punched a young asperger suffering girl into a bloody pulp. And a woman who assisted in he brutal repeated assault and killing of her child is given a suspended sentence.

The 'justice' system of this country has long been a laughing stock, but now it has for me (a normal law-abiding, uncomplaining citisen) it has become actively offensive. I wont advocate violence but if someone happened to take umbrage at these scrotes (the police, the magistrates, the judges, and the politicians) you know what? I'd stand and cheer (OK I may assist too)

If this is what Britain has become - then fuck them, bring on the revolution.

Other very good examples there too Able. The police, the courts and the country have become a joke. A nasty one, ot a funny one.

Oh, for fuck's sweet sake. Happy Christmas, law abiding and upstanding citizen who stepped in to help, your seasonal gift from the grateful state and its policymen is to be charged with a bullshit offence that's going to blight your life if you're found not guilty and could ruin it if you're convicted - oh, yes, you try getting a visa for some places with that on your record - and put off everyone else from trying to help out in a similar situation.

Cunts. Fingers crossed that if he pleads not guilty he gets at least one juror who knows about jury nullification and can persuade the others to just say fuck it and refuse to convict the guy.

Angry Exile - That's assuming he pleads not guilty. The police have become very good at scaring people into pleading guilty in exchange for a suspended sentance. I really hope he stands up for himself.

"I really hope he stands up for himself."

Given the 'Mail' story yesterday mentioned how he'd been advised by his solicitor not to comment because of the possible consequences for his employment, I'm not hopeful...

What did we expect? The man who ejected the scrote was easy pickings for our beloved 'authorities' because they can preserve the illusion they care about justice and are doing something about anti-social behaviour.

There is no justice, no common sense though as we all know. There is only those in power playing games.

Julia - If he were to loose his job over this then his employers must be bigger arseholes than the police.
I hope that advice only refers to commenting in the media and bears no relevence to his plea.

FTSTO - 'Easy pickings'. Yep, the police don't like to get thier hands dirty with real criminals anymore. As long as they can tick the right boxes they will just go for those who won't put up a fight.

You have to wonder where some peopl keep their brains

There's an opportunity here for a bit of jury nullification.

I watched the video clip and Pollock used reasonable force, no more.

Charles - Lockers in the police station. Start of shift - batons out, brains in.

Longrider - A bit of jury nullification would be good to see. Providing the jury has the spine for it.

Okay, turns out it might not be as plain as it looks. Just seen on The Thinking Policeman's take on it.

The press are reporting that Pollock has been charged with assault. This is NOT correct. The police have carried out an investigation and passed the file to the Procurator Fiscals office for a decision on prosecution. This is much the same as the police sending a file to the Crown Prosecution Service in England and Wales. The Procurator Fiscal will decide whether or not Pollock will be charged with assault and if Main will be charged with trespass or travelling without a ticket.

So a little bit of a media beat up going on since both of them are in the same boat, though like TTP I hope that they view Pollock's actions as lawful and Main's injury a direct result of his own behaviour. And then charge Main with fare dodging.

Angry Exile - Ahh, so the press aren't reporting the correct facts. What a surprise.

For me, this doesn't change much though. It's still the police who decide to go to the CPS. On the evidence, they shouldn't have arrested him at all.

This just sounds like a convenient get out for the cops. "It wasn't us, honest. The CPS decided to prosecute".

The police still bear the ultimate responsibility

He shouldn't have been arrested.

Someone stands up and does the right thing, and this happens? The country is totally fucked.

Bucko said...

Michael - You're right, he shouldn't. This will only put other people off getting involved in the future.
