It'll be salty this Christmas

How turkey and the trimmings can contain more than twice the recommended daily salt intake

Tucking in to turkey and all the trimmings can involve consuming more than double the daily recommended salt intake in a single meal.
A turkey dinner, plus a starter, pudding and a few nibbles could add up to 15.7g of salt, which compares to the maximum for an adult of 6g for a day.

It's one day a year FFS! Only the totally joyless can get involved in health campaigns. Scrap their funding and send them on their merry way.

Actually, it's two. There's the cold turkey and trimmings on Boxing Day too, with hot mash (lashings of butter and salt) and salty cold gammon!

Yum :)

I suppose I could use the leftovers to de-ice the pavement?

That's a good idea Microdave. The leftovers would get rid of the ice then the local cats would get rid of the leftovers.

Er, when did I miss salt turning into a substance that just accumulates in your body until you turn into a pillar of it?

One day (or even two JuliaM) would be fine - why is it that I seem to end up eating turkey for the next six months? Even the damn dog turns his nose up at turkey after weeks of turkey dinners, sandwiches, stew, stir-fry, turkey on toast..... turkey macaroon with your tea dear?

Bah Humbug!

They'd have to be bloody quick to beat the Seagulls and Jackdaws...
