And the offensive word?
Fellow comedians and disability groups have spoken out after Gervais repeatedly used the word "mong" in online messages to fans.
I didn't even know the word mong had anything to do with our lesser abled brethren, I always thought it referred to dirty people like tree huggers and stuff. 'Monging' has always meant lazing about in your pyjamas to me.
Well, now I've been educated thanks to the PC brigade.
And today he laughed off the storm by posting a message on Twitter saying: "The police just came round and confiscated all my awards - gutted."
I've never been particularly interested in any of Ricky Gervais' work or found him funny, however anyone who refuses to bow down the the humourless drones in the political correctness industry is alright by me.

Maybe I'll take another look, but if Ghost Town wastes two hours of my life I'll be most displeased :-)
My thoughts exactly.
Due to the Dale Farm brouhaha I missed most of the Gervais Twittermobbing, thankfully, but it seems to have been sparked as much by what his followers did (he was accused of 'setting them loose' somehow) as what he said...
You can't go round offending the little fluffy cats though, can you.
best thing i ever heard was when we was sat down as kids watching the disabled olympics (70´s) and my brother piped up "the ogimpic lames"
we all burst out laughing and our ma said "do´nt be so cruel because if you had brothers like that you´d be up in arms"and that made it worse even she started laughing
LOL
we have the best sense of humour ever given to man
