TESCO are the last people who should be offering Cheap beer deals.
Were they not the ones who wanted the government to introduce minimum alcohol pricing?
If they believe the price of alcohol should be regulated by the government to combat all the social ills caused by binge drinking, should they not be leading by example?
Not until everyone else is forced to comply, I guess. You can't risk those profit margins for your principals.
TESCO are probably well aware that increasing the price of booze will have no effect other than penalising decent folk. They want to increase their prices and their profits but know that if they go it alone, folk will just buy their booze somewhere else. The only way they can put their prices up and not suffer a loss is to get the government to force everyone else to put up their prices too.
Devious, underhanded buggers.
