Hammerite that baby now!

My first car, (harrumph) years ago, was a Mk 2 Cortina. Brilliant. I could take out the back seats and there was no cross-bracing, I could take out the front passenger seat and put a ladder in the boot.

It cost me the princely sum of £75. I kept it until the gear selector rods went and I had to hold it in 4th everywhere, then sold it for £50. By then it was mostly made of Plastic Padding and aluminium mesh, and was brush-painted with bus paint.

I still remember an early girlfriend's face when I'd told her yes, I have a car - then she saw it. Then she rode in it. I had to stop to retune the carb because the choke wasn't working so it revved too high when it warmed up. No problem, a twist with a screwdriver and it was done.

Oddly, there was no second date. Women have no sense of adventure.Leg-ironhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04932361799889315359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-232613925790974435.post-5181141781440733872012-04-29T12:41:35.450+01:002012-04-29T12:41:35.450+01:00Macheath - Thanks, I'm sure I will.
