No help there then

[...]Ken Clarke has mocked Cabinet colleague Andrew Lansley as a member of the ‘health police’ over his call for cigarettes to be sold in plain packaging only.

Good news. Another cabinet minister has stepped up and spoken out against this lunacy. Unfortunately the article was written by a stooge from ASH:

Cigar-smoking Ken Clarke has mocked Cabinet colleague Andrew Lansley as a member of the ‘health police’ over his call for cigarettes to be sold in plain packaging only.

Pointing out that he enjoys a cigar will make it very easy to dismiss him as one of the smelly addicted. And that's not all:

Mr Clarke openly suggested the Health Secretary’s controversial plans would not stop youngsters taking up the habit.

Openly suggested? Yes, because all such suggestions must be made behind the closed doors of a supermarket tobacco display, lest a whole bunch of children instantly become addicted to cigarettes.

"Is there more?", I hear you ask. There is:
But Mr Clarke, an ex-director of British American Tobacco, insisted changing public attitudes – not anti-smoking initiatives – had cut cigarette smoking.
He's a tobacco company stooge. Now ASH don't even have to come out with some fake statistics and junk science to refute his claims, they just have to point out that he used to work for BAT. Job done, nothing to see here.

Filthy smoker

Mr Lansley, who announced last week he was consulting on his plain-packaging plan, yesterday denied the move amounted to ‘nannying’.

That's the first thing the nannies always say.
